Mindfulness Lockdown Tips

In a way it’s great that life has slowed right down, but three months in will feel like a year!

It’s become very apparent to me over the last week just how important mindfulness will be for getting through this lockdown.

Every time I go into fear or panic mode, I try my best to get myself back to the present moment and check in. Am I safe right now? Yes. Okay, that’s good enough.

I recently listened to the Oprah Winfrey and Eckhart Tolle podcast ‘A New Earth’. It was life changing really. I ended up listening to the last four episodes twice and it took that long to really sink in. Eckhart explains that being in the moment is when the magic truly happens and that you can only feel joy by living in the now. It’s definitely a practice that takes some effort and some days will be easier than others, but I think it’s worth the effort. Now could be a good time to have a listen. Pros of today:

  • I made a start on the garden and dug up one of the overgrown flower beds. Slow and steady wins the race.
  • I’m lucky that at the end of our road, we’re surrounded by lovely countryside. It’s a little piece of heaven and I could literally spend hours walking around the fields. Today I managed a 40 minute walk at dusk, for my sanity.
