Microcredit Lending – Mentors International.

The doTERRA Healing Hands Foundation is proud to be partners with the micro-lending organization, Mentors International. Providing credit to those who would otherwise not have financing opportunities or whose only lending options are with unethical and even dangerous lenders, the microcredit fund helps lift the poor from poverty while elevating communities through economic development. The goal is accomplished by helping the hardworking poor grow small business enterprises using the principles of microcredit and self-reliance a “hand up” not a “handout.” Mentors International provides start-up support, training, and loan capital for its partner organizations. Since the inception of the Healing Hands Foundation’s partnership with Mentors International, millions of individuals in developing countries have broken the cycle of poverty and learned to make a difference in their communities through the formation of small businesses with loans managed by Mentors International. Mentors International extends loans to people of all creeds and faiths and strives to mentor clients with proven business principles to ensure prolonged success.  The Healing Hands and Mentors International began their partnership in 2008 and have together reached the following milestones:

• $6,341.927 disbursed in loans
• 10,618 jobs created
• 16,220 loans given
• 26,838 families impacted.

 

Feminine Hygiene – Days for Girls

DoTERRA provides monetary assistance and feminine hygiene kits that will be used to help women and girls around the world. Days for Girls is a grassroots nonprofit that helps girls around the world gain access to feminine hygiene supplies, and provides education about proper hygiene.  Representatives from doTERRA often travel internationally, so the company has made a habit of transporting feminine hygiene kits during these trips, and distributing them to communities in need. Aside from transporting the kits, doTERRA also provides classes that are designed to educate women and girls on feminine hygiene, and teach them how to properly use the kits. Girls and women who don’t have access to sanitary supplies often miss school or opportunities for income, because they are unable to go about their daily tasks. Young girls may miss up to two months of school throughout the year, and the loss of income for older women only worsens the cycle of poverty in areas that are already struggling. Not only does a lack of sanitary supplies cause girls and women throughout the world to miss out on learning and income, but it can be potentially threatening to their health. Without proper hygiene, infections like candida or yeast infections will develop. Other infections like urinary tract infections (UTI’s) are also common when bacteria develops due to lack of proper hygiene. Therefore, greater access to feminine hygiene products will not only allow girls to avoid missing school and activities that provide income, but this access also protects them from uncomfortable and infectious diseases like UTI’s. Many girls and women do not have access to good medicine or healthcare, so they may suffer for long periods of time with conditions like UTI’s and other bacterial infections, due to lack of proper care. The Days for Girls organization has reached women and girls in over 85 countries, across 6 continents. doTERRA’s donations of resources and supplies will help the organization as they continue to serve communities that need access to proper feminine hygiene.

• We also made The Guinness Book Of Records for the most personal hygiene kits assembled in 1 hour.
• 1800 kits went to refugee support in Lebanon.

Anti-Human Trafficking

3strands Global – Prevention The doTERRA Healing Hands Foundation has forged a corporate partnership with the 3Strands Global Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to stopping the serious and widespread issue of sex-trafficking. By partnering with 3Strands Global, the Healing Hands Foundation can help to make a difference in places like Nepal, Cambodia, and the United States where the human trafficking industry is rapidly growing.  While 3Strands Global has many projects and initiatives designed to abolish human trafficking, their organization focuses on three specific objectives—to reintegrate, educate, and mobilize. Their reintegration efforts focus on helping victims of human trafficking transition back into normal life. 3Strands Global works to create job opportunities for those who have been affected by trafficking, as well as those who might be at risk, giving them a safe way to spend their time and make money.  The education portion of 3Strand Global’s mission focuses on not only raising awareness about the issue of sex-trafficking, but by providing educational and training programs that will help to prevent the issue altogether. Rapha House – Aftercare At the 2017 doTERRA Global Convention, doTERRA announced a new corporate partnership with Rapha House, an organization that works to help children rehabilitate after they are rescued from sex-trafficking. This partnership is one of many that will help the doTERRA Healing Hands Foundation^® expand their reach when it comes to helping children affected by sex-trafficking throughout the world.  Rapha House work to end the sexual exploitation of children by spreading awareness about the seriousness of this problem, devoting time to prevention measures, and by focusing on rehabilitating children who have been involved in trafficking. As a non-profit organization, Rapha House has launched several projects that are dedicated to ending the problem of sex-trafficking, and helping children who have endured this type of nightmare. In addition to educating children and families in areas where kids are vulnerable to sexual exploitation, Rapha House focuses heavily on helping children rescued from trafficking to eventually be reintegrated into society and reunited with their families.  In order to help children who have been victims of sexual exploitation, Rapha House has several programs and projects that focus on healing, making children feel safe and valued, and teaching children helpful skills. Along with these programs, Rapha House provides children with safe houses where they can live after being rescued from trafficking, to help them heal and rehabilitate in a secure, loving environment.  This new corporate partnership with Rapha House will allow the doTERRA Healing Hands Foundation to be a part of building new aftercare facilities for the organization. These facilities will be an important part of the Rapha House mission, as they continue to provide victims with a place to recover after their rescue from sex-trafficking. Operation Underground Railroad – Rescue The doTERRA Healing Hands Foundation is proud to be partnering with Operation Underground Railroad (OUR Rescue) to bring healing and hope to the world. OUR Rescue exists to rescue children from sex trafficking by utilizing some of the world’s experts in extraction operations and anti-child trafficking efforts.  OUR Rescue’s Jump Team, consisting of former CIA, Navy SEALs, and Special Ops operatives, lead coordinated identification and extraction efforts to rescue children being trafficked for sex. To ensure perpetuity and sustainability of these extraction efforts, OUR Rescue works with law enforcement in the countries where they rescue children to ensure that everything is done legally and with the support of the local authorities. The children rescued from these extraction efforts are then rehabilitated by OUR Rescue’s aftercare program, and the perpetrators are arrested, tried, and convicted to ensure that they don’t traffic children again. Digital Forensic Lab – We assisted in building the first digital forensic lab dedicated solely to fighting child exploitation in South America. The lab provides online investigations and digital forensic evidence. The lab facilitated the rest of 36 traffickers and helped rescue 16 victims of sexual exploitation. Mobile Crime Lab – Analysing the data in a lab can take months. DOTERRA funded a mobile crime lab that can analyse evidence on site in hours, making possible the immediate arrest of criminals. Rescue Operations Support – Operation underground railroad uses  team of highly trained team members, such as navy seals and special operatives, to rescue children from sex trafficking around the world, in the US, Cambia, Columbia, Dominican Republic, Haiti and Nepal. Medical Mission – We funded medical supplies, medical kits, hygiene items, Pharmaceuticals and food. Domestic ICAC Task Force – Doterra and partnerships with internet crimes against children led to 50 arrests and 7 rescues in Washington DC and 24 arrests in Arizona. Electronic Detection K9 Units – Doterra purchased for electronic detection K9s to assist in sex trafficking efforts. These K9s are trained to located evidence at crime scenes, such items as ipads, hard drives, phones as these devices often contain child pornography.

Community Projects

Peace House 12 self-sufficient suites – The peace house is a secure facililty incudes 8 emergyncy shelters, 12 self- sufficient suites that allow longer term(6-24months) as needed. The house will not only provide lodging for domestic abuse survivers, but also support services in a group room child care centre, outdoor courtyard, and a boutique. 60 units Rwanda School – This school also contains 2 dormitories that house students. The days for girls kits calculators and backpacks were all donated to students of this school. We have also donated 300 wheelchairs to disabled children.

Co-Impact Sourcing

The community of Tzuncoc, Guatemala’s newly-built suspension bridge Nepal – April, November and December – We layed sement blocks for the hospital drive way, installed metal stoves in kichens, painted classroom desks. Bulgaria – July – We helped out at orphanages for ages 3-18, painted murals on outside of buildings, constructed and planted a flower garden and assisted with new bathroom facilities in the orphanages. Guatemala – October and November – We help support the work shop project by moving blocks and building walls for the work shops. Kenya – November – We donated and painted 560 desks for schools. Albania – We constructed indoor bathrooms in 3 schools, we separated boys from girls. Bulgaria Milk Canteen in Dobrich – This offers warm healthy meals for children aged between 10 months and 3 years. The mik canteen prepares 1000 proportions a day Community Centre in Dobrich – The community centre hosts many events and includes a playground, postoffice, a library and art clubs. Social Teahouse in Dobrich – This is a youth mentorship programme to help young adults who are aging out of the orphanage system improve their social and technical skills. Orphanage in Dobrich – This orphanage cares for children between ages 3-18 and we have updated all their bathrooms. Guatemala School Renovation in Tzuncoc – A new building with 6 new classrooms, 2 sets of toilets , office, kitchen and playground, this will accomate 129 students. Bridge Update in Tzuncoc – We build a suspension bridge across a river so that the children can safely cross regardless to the water level Volcano Relief in Antigua – Doterra funded a mechanical well to provide water for 1000 families due to the main water pipelines that were destroyed during volcanic eruption. Sikaabe’s in Alta Verapaz – This is a vocational training centre. We have built 16 new stoves, an adult education programme, a literacy programme, which teaches women how to read, write and speak Spanish, students also studied radio education. Haiti in Tricon/Ducis/Fonfrede – We provided new wells for drinking water for 305 people and 50 cattle. Madagascar – Nosy Be – We have a mobile health clinic with a doctor that makes weekly visits to 10 communities. Kenya – We maintain 80 handpumps which is clean water for 1600 people which includes 11 schools of 4500 children. 80 Water pumps installed – Kwale County 2 schools renovated – Kiwegu 560 desks donated – Kiwegu/Mwamose Nepal – After the 2015 earthquakes we provided help to rebuild schools, water supplies, a vet lab, hospitalts Clean Water – Makwanpur Health Post – Narayani Veterinary Lab – Makwanpur School renovation – Ramechhap New hospitals – Makwanpur/Ramechhap
