Winter Essential Oils For Diffusing

With the talk of cold, flu and other sickness going around our families, schools, work and everywhere it would seem, I wanted to share with you some winter blends to use and diffuse in your home, keeping it a healthy haven this Autumn and Winter.

Thankfully, essential oils can offer us some support and relief when it comes to cold and flu season. While there are SO many winter essential oil that can be used, really just a few oil powerhouses can have a major effect when you’re not quite feeling yourself and to speed up the healing process, or even help keep you from getting sick in the first place!

So why diffuse? For me, I find it’s an easy way to keep my home healthier, plus, it usually smells amazing! Though I do apply oils topically when needed and use in other ways, diffusing essential oils throughout the day helps to destroy airborne microbes and it’s one big (and easy!) method to fill our home with immune boosting properties.

OUR 5 FAVOURITE WINTER ESSENTIAL OILS YOU NEED TO DIFFUSE

The Sinus Refresher

This blend is a great way to help open the sinuses (peppermint), stop the runny nose (lavender), and brings gentle relief while stimulating your breathing.

3 drops Peppermint, 1 drop Wild Orange, 1 drop Lavender + 1 drop Eucalyptus

The Amazing Immune Booster

Kick the germs to the side by boosting the immune systems of all those in your home with this diffuser blend. Use during cold and flu season to help with prevention.

2 drops Clove, 2 drops Lemon, + 1 drop Cinnamon Bark, 1 part Eucalyptus , 1 drop Rosemary

Relax and Sleep

When you just need REST to overcome feeling under the weather, diffuse this blend to help with sleep.

2 drops of each Lavender , Sandalwood and Cedarwood

Let’s stop the family getting sick

To keep clear breathing and healthy immune response in cold and flu season during these winter months, keep this blend handy, and well as dilute with fractionated coconut oil apply to the bottom of your feet and back of the neck if you begin to feel any symptoms.

5 drops Eucalyptus , 5 drops Melaleuca (Tea Tree), 6 drops Wild Orange

Flu Bomb

If the cold or flu hits your family, this is a blend that will help you get through it a little faster and bring some relief. Besides diffusing, this is another blend that works well when you dilute with fractionated coconut oil apply to the bottom of your feet and back of the neck if you begin to feel any symptoms.

2 drops Lemon, 2 drops Oregano, 2 drops Melaleuca (Tea Tree), 2 drops On Guard and 2 drops Frankincense.

1 Lavender

The hustle and bustle of the upcoming festive season may seem overwhelming and a bit too much at times. Simply take a moment, relax and lose yourself in the calming scent of lavender. Lavender is one of the most nourishing and supporting essential oils available, commonly harnessed for its calming properties and aiding in relaxation. A few drops on your pillow at night before sleep will ensure a tranquil and mindful relax and sleep.

2 Juniper Berry

There’s no better time than now to cleanse your home of any negative or unwanted vibes, and Juniper is just the oil for you. Burnt in times of antiquity and by the Native Americans as well to cleanse the air, you can put a modern twist on this ritual by blending it with a pine and lemon in a diffuser. It helps inspire vitality and encouragement, and can help get you through your emotions.

3 Geranium

This essential oil’s rosy and inspiring aroma not only smells great but inspires happy faces all around − ideal for bring about some Christmas cheer! It is thought to help ease any emotional pain you may be feeling, as well as providing an uplifting feel when you might need a quick pick-me-up this season.

4 Frankincense

Having been harnessed for thousands of years, there’s a reason why frankincense is a popular and much-loved essential oil. It’s been used in meditations, prayers and rituals, and can nourish your mind, body and soul which is essential for the time of year in order to leave any negativity behind you before proceeding on to 2019. Create a welcoming and festive centrepiece by taking dried leaves and flowers, and sprinkling them with a splash of frankincense essential oil.

5 Rose

One of the best parts about the winter seasons is spending it with friends and family. Encourage those loving vibes by bringing rose essential oil into your home. Nourish a wonderful sense of self-love and exude that onto others as you let this rich and floral scent fill your living area. A few drops of rose oil in your bath will help you to learn to appreciate the beauty in life around you during the festive months.
