Using Essential Oils for LOVE!!

Setting the mood for romance means engaging all the senses. That’s where essential oils come in handy. Not only do they fill the bedroom with a luxurious fragrance, certain types are believed to help with romantic energy. Let’s talk about setting the mood.

Romantic Essential Oils

According to holistic health practitioners and aromatherapy experts, essential oils have specific properties that are believed to affect your emotions and frame of mind. That’s why you probably associate lavender with tranquility and a good night’s sleep or citrus with happiness and a boost in energy.

When it comes to striking a specifically sexy chord, heady scents like patchouli, vetiver, or sandalwood are known for having sensual connotations. If you’re new to using essential oils but want to bring them into the bedroom, start with these three. Or, if you and your partner connect certain smells to your relationship — after all, scents can be powerful memory triggers.

Of course, before you use an essential oil in any setting (sexy or otherwise), you should make sure you don’t have a sensitivity or a allergy to it. Do a spot test and use a carrier oil (such as coconut oil or jojoba oil) if you want to use essential oils on your skin.

Diffuse the situation.

The first step to being able to set the mood instantly is keeping an essential oil diffuser in your bedroom. With the push of a button, you can fill the room with an appealing and alluring scent. And like we said before, the more senses that are engaged, the better. An essential oil diffuser can play an important role in making your sexy night in feel immersive and special.

Try a lovely massage

Giving or receiving a slow and steamy massage is excellent for both parties. Using an oil that relaxes you both will be amazing. If your partner has had a long day, try a calming variety like lavender or one that’s associated with love and care, like rose. Ylang Ylang is also a lovely smell for giving a massage, I would also suggest our massage blend called Aromatouch. Don’t forget your carrier oil.

Get in the bath.

So many people love adding essential oils to baths when we want to create a certain effect. A dash of rose oil can heighten feelings of devotion, while rose and rosemary oils used together can cultivate love for nature. This is where using scents that remind you of, say, past trips with your partner could really come in handy: Like a good, long massage, an evocative, sensual soak in the tub with your partner is a great idea.

Cooking

Preparing a lovely meal for you both is also a nice idea to do early evening there are quite a number of the oils you can use in food and drink.

Here are a few more suggested oils:

1. Rose

As an anxiety-relieving, calming oil, it comes as no surprise that rose essential oil is also traditionally used as an aphrodisiac.

Application: Blend into a perfume to carry this romantic floral scent with you, or diffuse periodically throughout the day for both partners to enjoy.

2. Jasmine

A precious and pricey oil derived from delicate flower petals, jasmine has proven itself well in studies. Researchers tested alertness after a topical treatment of jasmine oil. The participants were found to be more refreshed, with their senses on alert.

Application: Apply jasmine topically in a perfume or sensual massage oil for men and women. Note that the delicate petals sometimes require the use of a solvent to extract the oil.

3. Clary Sage

A 2014 study undertook the question of menopause symptom relief and essential oils. The found that simply inhaling hormone-balancing clary sage essential oil had an anti-depressant effect on menopausal women. When libido is low due to hormonal shifts like menopause, clary sage is a balancer that may bring some relief.

Application: Diffuse or inhale periodically to relax, balance hormones, and get in the mood.

4. Ylang Ylang

Ylang ylang is widely used as an aphrodisiac throughout the aromatherapy world and is one of the best essential oils. Its gentle floral scent is appealing to nearly everyone, and its application potential is diverse. Enjoy with other floral oils or deepen the fragrance with sandalwood.

Application: Diffusion, inhalation, or diluted into a carrier oil as a massage oil for both men and women.

5. Neroli

Essential oil derived from orange blossoms instead of the fruit’s peel is called neroli, a precious and very useful oil. In one clinical trial, researchers found that “inhalation of neroli oil helps relieve menopausal symptoms, increase sexual desire, and reduce blood pressure in postmenopausal women,” making it another helpful option when libido is low due to hormones or stress.

Application: Diffusion or inhalation a couple of times each day for calming, balancing effects.
